Perfection!!!!!

That was amazing. Simply Spectacular. A PERFECT GAME by Mike Buehrle.

Mark Buehrle, White Sox pitcher

Now let’s wind back the clock a bit (thanks for providing one Mr.Buehrle). The last person to pitch a perfect game in MLB history was Camera stuffer Randy Johson back in 2004.

But Mark Buehrle is a nice guy and he totally deserved it, even though he had a perfect game against my Rays. You can see in an interview here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/players/10/04/first.person1010/

Mark totally deserves this perfect game and he has always been a quality starter who worked deep into games. The most special part of this team effort though was made by the Wise-one, DeWayne Wise.

He made an amazing catch in a high pressure situation to preserve the perfect game. Talk about coming up clutch! All people should be wise like that!

After the game, Buehrle received the highest honor of having received a congratulatory call from the President himself, Barack Obama.

So how’s that for a day Mark?

We Swept Them Right Off Their Feet!

I think we need to take these out…

Why??? Well, because the Yankees and Rays swept both their series and are now 3-0 since the All-Star break! Go 3 and 0! Hah, hah, hah. Much of this success can be contributed to the fact that our pitchingis doing spectacular and that our hitters are coming up clutch in key situations.

My man Longoria has been doing alot better since the break and I’m glad. His shot in the 1st game the Rays played since the 2nd half began put them ahead 8-7 and they were able to hold on to the lead with great pitching from J.P. Howell at the end of the game.

This series Howell has been especially lights-out as he has recorded saves in all 3 games and using his dominant stuff to overpower the Royals hitters. He is a talented pitcher that knows how to manipulate his stuff at the right time and place. Will he ever be as good as The Sandman? Nobody will, but in the meantime he can keep on doing what he’s doing and keep on securing the win for us in the 9th inning.

The Rays definitely win the comeback kids award as in each of their games in this series they have came back in the 7th inning or later to get the lead and the win. Talk about fighting till the end!

Hey, this is a Yankee and Rays blog right? So I gotta give a little love to the boys in the big white and blue, the New York Yankees!

Mark Teixeira

How about Teixeira this past series man? He was on fire! 2 homers, 5 hits, 4 R.B.I.’s, so this is why we signed this guy for 180 million dollars this past off-season. He could really put on a show once he gets rolling.

I don’t think the Tigers were prepared for this fiersome beast that they had to face.

You’d better watch out Red Sox Nation.

 We’re Catching Up.

CC vs. Verlander…A True Pitchers Duel

Today is sure to be a great matchup as the Yankees face up against the fiercesome Tigers and their ace…

Justin Verlander.

Of course I dropped Verlander in my fantasy league when he was doing terrible in the beginning of the season but since then he has been lights out.

Lights Out! It's Turtle Time!

Now for the Yankees today it’s not turtle time but CC time as the big man takes the hill today.

CC Sabathia

CC hasn’t been pitching great at home lately but today I think he is gonna turn it around and shut the Tigers down. Complete game anyone? (I’m hoping this will end up like Julia and Cheeky’s predictions so let’s see!)

Gametime

So it looks like the duel is raging on as Verlander and CC are both pitching great games. Did anyone see that bat of Teixeira’s flying into the stands during the 6th inning? He just let it loose and it flew. I’m glad a kid got it though. CC has another 1-2-3 inning in the 7th and is pitching great.

Yes!!!! A-Rod hit an A-Bomb and the Yankees are up 1-0!

Alex Rodriguez

It looks like Verlander is in some trouble now. Runners on 2nd and 3rd and….

The Melk-Man delivers!!!

He beats out an infield single! Scoring is Swisher! 2-0 Yankees! Yeah!

Top of the 8th Aceves comes in ( I guess I don’t have the luck like Cheeky or Julia but maybe next time 🙂 and he gives up a homer to Marcus Thames (hey, didn’t he used to play on the Yankees once) but preserves the lead as it is still 2-1.

The Yankees still are up 2-1 and they only need to close it out to win game 2 of the series. So who do they bring in…

Oh yeah….

The rest, well you know the deal. Let’s just say he:

The Yankees win! Ahhahhhahh! The Yankees win!!!

Side notes:

Today is the 10 year anniversary of David Cone’s perfecto.

Jeter did the awesome Jeter play in the 9th inning to help Mo out:
