Free Agent Future: Adrian Beltre
Don’t ask me why I decided to start with Beltre, because honestly I don’t even know but I figured why not?
Adrian Beltre
2010 Stats:
- Season: GP 154 ·
- AVG .321 ·
- HR 28 ·
- RBI 102 ·
- Runs 84 ·
- SB 2
3 Main Elements of His Game
- Great defender, one of the main reasons Sox signed him last winter.
- Not a negative clubhouse prescence: from what I’ve heard, he’s no Milton Bradley or Nyjer Morgan, this guy respects the game and does the right things on and off the field
- Can hit in the clutch and drive in runs: see 102 RBI and 28 HRS
Prediction
Angels 5 yr $85 million
Why the Angels?
Beltre would be a perfect fit with their club dynamic. He’s solid on defense and is a talented hitter as well. With Arte Moreno willing to spend more after not making the playoffs for the 1st time in 4 years, they will be willing to shell out the $85 million it will take to get Beltre. At this point, the Angels are thinking that Brandon Wood is a bust, or at least needs alot more seasoning before he’s ready for the big leagues. Beltre would probably bat in the 5 hole behind Morales and would give the Angels a solid 4-5 punch.
The Manoman
He is a Mortal
No he is not God.
He is hittable.
He is…..
CLIFF LEE
He got pounded by the Giants giving up 7 runs (6 earned) and 8 hits in only 4 2/3 innings and lost Game 5 for the Rangers.
. Will the Yankees still go after him?
2 Words:
HECK YEAH!
(Notice the Hyundai Car Refrence)
Do you think the Yankees would miss out on this stud? No chance.
I’d say 5 year $125 million sounds right. Thoughts?

My All Star Team (Part One- Infield)
So I’ve been thinking, how long has it been since I last posted something on my blog you know? And then I saw it….. 3 months!!!!!!!!!!! What!!!!! That’s crazy! Proposterous!!!! Out of this world!!! So now I am determined to write a post and here we go!
The Manoman’s All Star Infield
Catcher
Joe Mauer
How could you go wrong with a guys like Joe? You got the Batting Average, some pop in the bat and an amazing ability to handle a pitching staff.
Honorable Mentions- Buster Posey (C-SFG); Brian McCann (C-ATL)
1st Base
Mark Teixeira
Now don’t get me wrong, he isn’t an Albert Pujols or a Miguel Cabrera and honestly a week ago I probably would’ve put Pujols here, but after meeting Mark Teixeira I have changed my ways. He is such a nice guy and he can hit and make stellar plays at 1st place that no one else can.
Honorable Mentions- Albert Pujols (1B-STL); Miguel Cabrera (1B-DET)
2nd Base
Robinson Cano
Hey! What do you know? I picked Cano! This guy is awesome, he can drive the ball, bats lefty has an outfielders arm, hits in the 4 hole, and can make you laugh. Did I miss anything?
Honorable Mentions- Ian Kinsler (2B-TEX); Chase Utley (2B-PHI)
3rd Base
EVAN LONGORIA
Do I even need to type an explanation?
Honorable Mentions- No one is even close to being as honorable as Longo
Shortstop
Derek Jeter
“Now batting…. #2, Derek Jetah.” When the legendary Bob Sheppard announces your name every time you step up to the plate you know you’re pretty damn good and that you belong on this team.
Honorable Mentions– Troy Tulowitzki; Hanley Ramirez
.
That’s it for the infield of my All-Star Team. Special thanks to the Brooklyn Trolley Blogger for his inspirational (and persistent) nudges for me to make another post. You can check out his blog here ( http://thebrooklyntrolleyblogger.mlblogs.com/ ). The outfield should be coming shortly!

My 1st Mock Draft of 2010…
Recently I saw on the mlblogs homepage a section on mock drafts. I thought it was interesting and it inspired me…
What if I went onto mockdraftcentral.com and did MY OWN MOCK DRAFT! and that is exactly what I did…
My 1st Mock Draft of 2010
(Just to let you guys know for all avid fantasy baseball fans, it was a 14 team draft 5×5. I picked 11th.)
My 1st pick… who else…
Yeah, nuff said.
Pick 2: Joe Mauer
AL MVP, a little over valued but I like how he solidified my catching spot.
3. Adam Lind
Surprise!!! Bet you didn’t see this coming! The fact of the matter is that Lind is really good. He hit 35 Hr’s and had 114 R.B.I.’s last year with the BLUE JAYS. Can’t wait to see him kick butt this year.
4. Hello! Mr. Cano!
Yes, with my #4 I picked Robbie. I normally would have picked a pitcher here but at this slot I wanted to follow the code of mlb fantasy 411 and wait till the 10th round. Robbie is still awesome though.
5. Hey Andre!
At this spot I picked Mr. Walkoff himself Andre Ethier. I like Andre because I think he will fully bloom this year and hit 35+ HR’s and 115+ R.B.I.’s
Now because I know it would be boring to read why I picked all of the players I did, here are the rest of my draft picks:
6. A. Soriano*
7. T.Hunter
8.M.Cuddyer
9.J.Weaver
10.A.Bailey
11.J.Jurrjens
12.R.Oswalt
13.M.Scutaro
14.L.Nunez
15.R.Porcello
16.J.Neimann
17.A.Escobar
*This pick was an accident as… (be prepared for alot)
-
My computer wasn’t working and I got back onto the draft w/ 5 secs. to pick
-
All my pre-picks were gone
-
I wanted to pick a 1b as I was gonna pick C.Pena
and finally…
4. The clock ran out… I hadn’t picked… and I was thinking about what I would type for this post about this the whole time… Simple, right?
Final Thoughts…
Great draft overall. My outfield is solid and my only regret is my Soriano pick (see above), other than that I’m happy!
Spring is SOON!
The Manoman
Capping Off the Christmas Wait With a Crisp Ending…
Ahhhh… the closer….
There are the great….
The damaged goods…
and then… there’s Matt Capps
Now let’s look at the scienario shall we?
You’re a Pirate
But not just any pirate, you are the guy that finishes the job, their savior…
and then, they give you the axe
So what do you do? You move on of course… but to where?
Do you want to be in the Nation’s Capital?
or become a Cub?
Yeah, I think the answer is pretty obvious at this point which is why Matt Capps is now the closer of the guys in D.C.!
(Yes, even the owl is going crazy)
Now onto my exclusive interview with the Athletics Spokes”man”: the A-Gnome!
Would you want a box of Coco Crisp?
“I would! How much is it?”
Sir it is 5 million dollars but in it comes with your very own Coco Crisp action figure that can play centerfield and run very fast!
“It’s a done deal!”
and that is how Coco Crisp came to be on the team by the Bay, the Oakland Athletics…
Happy Holidays!!!

Happy Anniversary to MLB-Yankees-Rays…Forever!
Wow. I cannot believe it’s been a year since I posted my first entry on a cold December day. It feels like I wound back the clock in typing this entry right now.
I want to touch upon a couple of things in this entry:
1. I’m Sorry
For missing all of the game action for you guys
For not giving you the latest trades and signings on the minute!
For not providing analysis that will take your breath away
For not giving you my input on what I feel about the transactions, the games, and the specialties
2. I will…
Try to give you the breaking news
Provide link lists for easy transportation to other awesome sites
Give you the analysis that will separate this blog from most
and..,
Make this blog an enjoyable blog to visit and read!
3. What has happened since I was gone?
Well, obviously alot has happened but let’s look at the big stuff:
-
Mo has broken the 500 save barrier!
2. Derek Jeter is our new Hit King!
3. B.J. Upton hit for the cycle.
4. A-Rod extended his consecutive 100 R.B.I. and 30 homer accomplishments in the last game of the season! ( He had 2 HR’s and 7 R.B.I.’s)
5. The YANKEES ARE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS! ( Yes that deserved bold, underline, and italics)
4. A Shout Out!
To all my loyal readers including…
-
Cheeky- http://cheeky.mlblogs.com
-
MarshallMan- a good friend of mine
-
Rays Fan Boy- http://raysfanboy.mlblogs.com
and finally… an hononrable mention to the blogger who left me my very 1st comment…

Brings back alot of memories.
5. The Archives
Some of my favorite entries (from least to best)
5. CC vs. Verlander…A True Pitchers Duel-July 18, 2009
This entry I really enjoyed making because it was my first “live game” entry and it was inspired from reading all of your blogs!
Favorite line:
Don’t mess with the Captain.
4.They’re All Stars (but Longoria is the Best)!– June 3, 2009
This entry I liked because it captured which players I loved seeing and it was kind of fun looking for the photos of everyone.
Favorite Photo:
Sorry I think they’re all awesome. : )
3. Rocking Rookies– June 17, 2009
Entry+ Rookies = What’s Not To Like!

and Finally…
1.Early Division Predictions: AL East– December 19, 2008
I loved making the predictions and the 1 thing that made this post the best is that it was my 1st True Post.
Favorite Comment By Reader:
Welcome, manoman! As a Yankee fan I LOVE your prediction. I still think we need another bat, but we certainly upgraded the rotation and the pen is looking good.
Ok, so now I want to go fire up the PS3 and get my MLB:The Show on! There, my Rays are in first, blowing away the competition. Wish it was like that in real life! You are right in calling Howell “lights out.” The guy has been perfect since the break, racking up 3 saves already!I’m going to have to drop Percy in my game and get Howell in there as my closer!
http://raysfanboy.mlblogs.com/ – (In regards to the post “We Swept Them Right Off Their Feet!- July 19, 2009 )
Well, that is the official 1st anniversary entry of MLB-Yankees-Rays…Forever!
Happy Holidays!

The Melk-Man Strikes Again!!!
Melky hit single.

Melky hit homer.

Melk-Man hit triple in bottom of ninth to complete cycle.
Priceless.
It’s just…
(http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_Archives/melky.jpg)
Melky has been so consistent and helpful to the Yankees this year. He plays spectacular defense and has so many walk-offs we should name him Captain Clutch.
Sorry Derek but we are officially dethroning you for some….
In what was supposed to be a stellar pitching matchup yesterday, both pitchers flopped. CC allowed 5 runs…
(http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/2009/05/02/sabathia_260.jpg)
What happened Big Man? Luckily though, Mark Buehrle did even worse and he was pounded for 7 runs and 12 hits by the Yankees.
Ouch. The Yankees sure beat up on poor Buehrle. When I say poor I mean the guy with a no-no and a perfecto so I’ll say GO YANKS!!!
Looking Ahead
Today the Yanks face the Doc of baseball, Mr.Halladay himself. Hopefully we can put the type of hurting we did on Buehrle, on the Doc.
Looking at the Present
Today the Rays beat the Royals and Zack Grienke 10-4 and say-hey Willie! Aybar was working his magic today hitting 2 homers, one as a lefty and one as a righty. Kaz pitched a great game as well.
Will he be next year’s cover boy???? No…
He will.
